AI Policy – Serbia

The following description of AI policy in Serbia provides a snapshot summary of some previous and ongoing initiatives throughout the country. It is regularly updated as feasible, but it is not intended to be comprehensive.

On December 26, 2019, the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in the Republic of Serbia for the period 2020 – 2025. The focus of the Strategy is economic growth, improvement of public services, advancement of academic research, and development of skills for the jobs of the future.

The main objectives of the Strategy are the development of education, economy, science and innovation based on AI; support for the implementation of AI solutions; improvement of infrastructure and public services by utilizing AI; and its ethical and safe application. The Republic of Serbia aims to position itself as a regional leader and lay a foundation for continuous improvement in the field of AI. The government is going to invest around 90 million euros in programs planned within the AI Strategy.
