AI Policy – Tunisia
The following description of AI policy in Tunisia provides a snapshot summary of some previous and ongoing initiatives throughout the country. It is regularly updated as feasible, but it is not intended to be comprehensive.
Tunisia has started a process to develop a national AI strategy “to secure a respectable place” and enable “sustainable and equitable development without forgetting about the ethical and challenges posed by this emerging technology.” Tunisia’s Secretary of State for Research created a Task Force to oversee the project and a Steering Committee to produce the strategy. The process was launched by an event held in April 2018, “National AI Strategy: Unlocking Tunisia’s capabilities potential,” hosted by the UNESCO Chair on Science, Technology and Innovation Policy and the National Agency for Scientific Research Promotion-ANPR.
