AI Policy – Kenya
The following description of AI policy in Kenya provides a snapshot summary of some previous and ongoing initiatives throughout the country. It is regularly updated as feasible, but it is not intended to be comprehensive.
The Kenyan government created a Blockchain & Artificial Intelligence task force in February 2018. The group is led by Dr Bitange Ndemo, Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Nairobi’s Business School, and consists of 11 total members from academia and industry. The first goal of the group is to provide the government with recommendations about how to harness these emerging technologies over the next five years. Other areas of interest include the application of these technologies to public service delivery, cybersecurity, financial inclusion, and election processes.
