Operations Specialist
About the job
The Future of Life Institute (FLI) is looking for a talented individual to help develop highly effective tools, workflows, and strategies for operations in new nonprofit organizations as well as FLI itself.
This position will work independently, under the supervision of FLI staff and in consultation with external experts such as lawyers and consultants, on a ~6-month project to research and build highly efficient operations machinery for new non-profit organizations. This might be a standalone project or might evolve into a position at FLI or another organization.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, entrepreneurial, self-directed, experienced in operations work, very comfortable learning new tools, and very organized. Work will be primarily remote, but a Bay Area physical location is a mild plus. Compensation will be at highly competitive rates.
Duties may include:

Speaking to other non profits, documenting and gathering information about best practices

Developing specialized solutions for different aspects of non-profit lifecycle

Developing a toolkit of processes

Collecting and organizing templates, negotiation agreements and example documents,

Producing recommendations for different jurisdictions (i.e. different states, and countries in the EU)

Comparing and prototyping options for software solutions
Required Qualifications:

Bachelors equivalent or higher degree in business, law, or a technical field related to emerging technologies.

Three (3) or more years of relevant work experience, mid-career and senior candidates encouraged to apply.

An ability to work independently and quickly, with a proactive work-ethic. Though the position will work with FLI colleagues, the position will require an ability to work geographically separate from others.

Eligibility to work in the US.

Fluency in English, both written and oral.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience working in operations in small to medium sized organizations;

Comfort setting up and prototyping software tools;

High level understanding of how to set up entities either in the US or EU;

Strong reading and writing skills.
